About Social Cinema X
Social Cinema X - SCX - is a system for people who run rooms: the people in the room, the screens and sound in the room, and what happens after everyone leaves.
The software platform at beta.socialcinemax.com is developed and operated by Reed Labs LLC. Social Cinema X is a media and production brand created by Reed Robertson and Mike.
What SCX does
SCX is built around one arc, and each part of it is software that exists and runs today rather than a roadmap item.
- BEFORE - Know the people. Capture contacts, context, notes and relationships from conversation, pasted text or a photograph of a business card, and search them by what they can actually help with rather than by surname.
- LIVE - Run the room. Control playlists, media and connected screens from a phone: register an output, point it at a display, take media to it, and hand a colleague temporary control by letting them scan a code.
- AFTER - Keep the next move connected. The relationship context stays attached to the person, so the follow-up is not a blank page a week later.
Who it is for
People whose next opportunity comes through somebody who was already in the room, and who are also the person responsible for the room working: filmmakers, AV crews and technicians, freelancers and independent operators, and founders who are still doing all three jobs themselves.
SCX assumes you are the operator. It is built for a phone in one hand while something else is happening, not for a desk.
What problem it solves
The people who run rooms usually keep their network in their head, their media in a pile of links, and their screens under the control of whoever happens to be standing at the laptop. Those three problems are normally solved by three unrelated tools that know nothing about each other.
SCX treats them as one job. The same product that knows who is in the room is the one that puts something on the screen in it, and the record of both is still there tomorrow.
Where it is today
SCX is in open beta at beta.socialcinemax.com. Anyone can create a free account: Story CRM is included at no cost, and Screen Control is the paid half, with a 7-day free trial whenever you choose to start it.
Being in beta is a real statement about the product, not a marketing posture. Features change, some of what is described publicly as direction has not shipped, and the landing page keeps shipped capability and intended direction in visibly separate sections for that reason.
SCX does not promise uninterrupted operation, and it should not be the only thing standing between a live production and a black screen. The Terms say the same thing in more detail.

Reed Labs LLC develops, maintains and bills for that software, and it is the party you contract with when you use or purchase the software services offered through beta.socialcinemax.com. It does not own or operate the Social Cinema X brand itself - the software carries the SCX name and interface under that brand.
