Terms of Service
Effective September 16, 2026
These Terms are the agreement between you and Reed Labs LLC for your use of the Social Cinema X software services offered through beta.socialcinemax.com ("SCX"). The software platform at beta.socialcinemax.com is developed and operated by Reed Labs LLC.
By using SCX you accept these Terms. If you are accepting them for a company, you are confirming you are allowed to bind it.
1. Eligibility and accounts
You must be at least 18 and legally able to enter a contract.
Anyone can create an SCX account at any time, and creating one is free. You are responsible for what happens under your account and for keeping your password to yourself. Tell us promptly if you think somebody else has access to it. We may decline or close an account that is used abusively.
You may not share an account between people in a way that is really several people using one seat, and you may not access SCX through automated means we have not agreed to.
2. SCX is in beta
SCX is a beta product. Features appear, change and are withdrawn. Things break. Some capability described publicly is direction rather than a shipped promise, and the public pages are written to keep those apart.
Beta access may be time-limited, capacity-limited or withdrawn. We will not delete your data capriciously, and where a change would affect your data we will make a reasonable effort to tell you first, but you should not treat a beta as your only copy of anything that matters.
3. What SCX provides
SCX provides software for recording and searching the people in your professional network, for organising media, and for controlling connected screens and playback from a device you are signed in on. What is available to you depends on your account and on what has shipped at the time.
4. Your content
Everything you put into SCX stays yours. We claim no ownership of your contacts, notes, images, or the arrangement of your media.
To run the product for you, you give us the permission we need to host, store, back up, transmit, display and process that content - including sending the specific content you submit to a feature to the service providers named in our Privacy Policy, such as sending an image you asked us to read to our AI provider. This permission exists only to operate SCX for you, it is not a license for us to use your content for anything else, and it ends when you delete the content or your account.
5. Information about other people
SCX exists to hold information about people you know. You are responsible for having a lawful basis to enter, store and use that information, for keeping it reasonably accurate, and for honoring requests from those people. Do not put information into SCX that you are not entitled to hold.
6. Acceptable use
- Do not use SCX to break the law, to harass anybody, or to build a dossier on someone for a purpose they would have a right to object to.
- Do not upload malware, attempt to breach or probe the security of the service, or try to reach another customer's data.
- Do not resell or sublicense SCX, or present it as your own product, without our written agreement.
- Do not use SCX to display content you have no right to display, or content that is unlawful in the place it is being shown.
- Do not scrape the service, or place an unreasonable load on it deliberately.
7. Third-party services and media
SCX plays media through third-party players - principally YouTube's embedded player. SCX does not host, license, or transmit that media: your browser and your screens connect to the provider directly.
You are responsible for having the right to show what you show, and for complying with the terms of the platform it comes from. A third-party platform can change, restrict, geo-block or remove a video at any time, and that is outside our control.
8. Running live shows with SCX
This section matters more than the rest of this document, because SCX controls things people can see in a room.
- You remain the operator. SCX is a tool you use to run a show; it does not run the show, and it does not replace a person watching what is on the screens.
- SCX is not a life-safety system. Do not use it for emergency messaging, evacuation instruction, alarm, life-safety signage, or anything else where a failure could put somebody at risk. It is not designed, tested or certified for that.
- Keep a backup path for anything critical. For a production where a black screen would be a serious problem, have another way to put content on that screen - local playback, another source, a person who can take over.
- Control and playback depend on things we do not own. Network connectivity, the device at each screen, the browser on it, the display itself and third-party media platforms can all fail or be interrupted independently of SCX.
- We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation, and we do not promise any particular uptime.
- Verify before you go live. Check what is actually on each output before an audience sees it. Rehearse the sequence you intend to run.
9. What is free, what is paid, and the trial
SCX is two products on one account. SCX CRM - the people, the relationships, the notes and the search - is FREE, for every account, with no time limit and no card. It is not a trial and it does not end.
SCX Screen Control - driving connected displays, Theater, and remote control of a screen from a phone - is the paid product.
A subscription includes, at any one time: 3 active Screen Control outputs; 5 simultaneous remote controllers; Theater, playback and live media control. Slots free themselves: an output or a remote releases its slot when it closes, leaves, or stops responding for about a minute. Nothing already running is ever disconnected to make room for a new connection; a connection beyond the limit is refused instead.
Seven days free, with no credit card. The trial starts when you first open Screen Control, not when you create an account. One trial per account: it does not restart by signing out, clearing a browser, using another device, or cancelling and returning. When it ends, SCX CRM carries on exactly as before and only SCX Screen Control closes. Because no card is collected, a trial ending can never produce a charge.
10. Fees, renewal and cancellation
SCX Screen Control is $30 per month, billed monthly. One price: there is no tier to choose and no introductory rate that later rises.
The plan, the exact amount, the billing interval and the fact that the charge repeats are shown to you at checkout before you commit to anything.
Cancel any time. SCX Screen Control stays active through the end of the period you have already paid for.
Payments are generally non-refundable except where required by applicable law.
Cancelling ends SCX Screen Control at the end of the period you have already paid for. It does not touch SCX CRM, and it does not delete anything: your account and all of your CRM data remain exactly as they were.
How charges, renewal, cancellation, failed payments, price changes, taxes and refunds work is set out in full in our Billing, Refund and Cancellation policy at /billing, which forms part of these Terms.
11. Suspension and termination
You can stop using SCX at any time and ask us to close your account.
We may suspend or close an account that is breaking these Terms, that is being used in a way that endangers the service or other customers, or where we are required to. Where it is reasonable to do so we will warn you first and give you a chance to fix it. If we close your account without cause, and you have paid for a period you have not used, we will refund the unused part.
On termination your right to use SCX ends. We will give you a reasonable opportunity to export your data before deleting it, unless the law requires otherwise.
12. Changes to the service
We change SCX continuously, which is the point of a beta. We may add, alter or remove features. If we remove something you are paying for specifically, you may cancel and we will refund the unused part of the period.
13. Disclaimers
SCX is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.
We do not warrant that SCX will be uninterrupted, timely, secure or error-free, that a screen will display what you intended at the moment you intended it, or that a third-party media platform will serve what you queued.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranties to be excluded, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
14. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, neither party is liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for lost profits, lost business, lost goodwill or lost data, arising out of your use of SCX.
To the fullest extent the law allows, Reed Labs LLC's total liability arising out of or relating to SCX is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or one hundred United States dollars.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
15. Indemnity
You will indemnify Reed Labs LLC against claims brought by a third party arising from content you put into SCX, from information you held about somebody without a basis for holding it, from media you displayed without the right to display it, or from your breach of these Terms. This does not apply to claims arising from our own breach or wrongdoing.
16. Governing law and disputes
Reed Labs LLC is a limited liability company organized in the State of California. These Terms are governed by California law, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules, and nothing here waives any right you have under the law of the place where you live.
Before starting formal proceedings, please write to reedjrobertson@gmail.com and describe the problem. Most disputes are a misunderstanding or a mistake we would rather simply fix, and we will engage in good faith for at least thirty days.
17. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. The current version is always at this address with its effective date at the top. If a change is material we will make a reasonable effort to tell account holders before it takes effect, and continuing to use SCX after that means you accept it. If you do not accept a change, stop using SCX and tell us, and we will refund any unused paid period.
18. General
If part of these Terms is unenforceable, the rest still applies. Not enforcing a term straight away does not waive it. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them to a successor to our business.
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy at /privacy and the Billing policy at /billing, are the whole agreement between us about SCX.

This document describes how SCX actually works today and is written to be read, not to impress. It is an operational policy, not legal advice, and it does not create rights beyond those the law already gives you.
